CHARLESTON, Ill. –
Chris Reed scored her second goal of the season midway through the first half but three UMKC second half goals lifted the visiting Kangaroos to a 4-1 victory over the Panthers on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field.
EIU fell to 0-5 on the season and returns to action on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. against IUPUI. UMKC improved to 2-2-1.
Reed scored in the 23rd minute as she headed home a ball that was sent into the keeper by
Meagan Radloff. UMKC goalkeeper Nina Tzianos made in initial stop but could not stop Reed's follow up. It was Reed's second goal this season both of them on assists by Radloff.
UMKC tied the game five minutes later on goal by Sarah Todd that came on a free kick from 22-yards out. The ball tipped off the fingers of EIU goalkeeper
Kylie Morgan into the upper right corner of the net.
The Kangaroos took the lead in the 52nd minute on a goal by Alyssa Elver that came off a cross by Ellie Chadick. Chadick had goal of her own in the 55th minute on an assist by Olivia Hodison.
UMKC's final goal came from Kara Priest with the assist by Elver and Nikki Lynch.
Tzianos made four saves before Megan Goetzinger took over with 17 minutes to go. Morgan made five saves for EIU.
