NASHVILLE – For the fourth time this season Eastern Illinois women's soccer pushed a match beyond the 90 minutes of regulation and for the third time this season the ball did not bounce in the Panthers direction.  EIU lost in the first overtime Friday afternoon, 2-1, at Belmont in Ohio Valley Conference play.

Eastern Illinois (2-9-1, 0-3 OVC) opened the season with a 0-0 draw against IUPUI.  Since that opening tie, EIU has lost in double overtime at Western Illinois, one overtime at Kansas City and on Friday one overtime at Belmont.

Allie Svoboda served up the game winner for the Bruins (2-8-1, 1-2 OVC) just over three minutes into the extra session.  Prior to that EIU goalkeeper Maddie Lyon had made five saves allowing just one goal earlier in the second half.

Hannah Miller put the Panthers on the board first as she scored her fourth goal the season and 11th of her career in the 51st minute.  Miller headed in a corner kick by Emily Wolf.

Belmont answered just under two minutes later with Sydney Omweg scored on a rebound off a Bruins corner kick.  Heather Ferrari was credited with the assist on both Belmont goals.

EIU had six shots on goal with Stephanie Bukovec making four saves.  Addison Cartwright made the other Belmont save as she stepped in front of a scoring chance by Kathleen MacKinnon in the 77th minute that would have given EIU the lead.

Wolf, Miller, MacKinnon and Bianca Navejas had the shots on goal for EIU.

EIU returns to action on Sunday opening a four-game home stand with Jacksonville State at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
