Cale Hennemann was solid during the Panthers single game at Saint Louis. Â He delivered two big hits in the eighth and ninth innings driving home three runs to help the Panthers force extra innings. Â Hennemann and senior
Brant Valach are the only two Panthers with three RBI games this season, Valach has two.
• Senior
Caleb Howell broke out of his early season slump during the OVC opening weekend against Austin Peay. Â Howell hit .500 for the series going 4-for-8 with two doubles and three runs scored. Â He added two hits at Saint Louis on Wednesday as he now has 229 career hits to rank 6th on the EIU career list.

Brant Valach drove in three runs during the OVC opening series at Austin Peay as the senior works his way towards the EIU career top ten for RBI. Â Valach added three RBI on Wednesday at Saint Louis. Â Valach now has 110 career RBI with eight of those coming this season. He has hit three home runs in the last week giving him 13 for his career.Â
• EIU starters
Matt Wivinis and
Garrison Stenger both worked five innings in their starts against Austin Peay. Â Stenger had nine strikeouts during his game two start against the Governors as he leads the EU staff with 16 strikeouts. Â Wivinis has the lowest ERA of the Panthers starters this season at 4.91.
• Senior
Christian Slazinik was sharp out of the bullpen for the Panthers on Wednesday at Saint Louis. Â Slazinik pitched 2.2 innings allowing just one hit. Â Slazinik started the opening weekend at Georgia but has come out of the bullpen the remainder of the season.

Mitch Gasbarro scored three times at Saint Louis on Wednesday including scoring a run in the ninth that forced extra innings. Â Gasbarro is tied for the team lead with
Caleb Howell with each player scoring six runs this season. Â He is one of only five EIU players that have six or more hits this season. Â
Brant Valach is the team leader with ten hits.Â
• Eastern Illinois is playing its 109th season of intercollegiate baseball as the Panthers head to Central Arkansas this weekend.  EIU has an all-time record of 1,604 wins and 1,450 losses.  Head coach Jimmy Schmitz is in his 21st season as the Panthers skipper.  Schmitz is the Panthers career leader in wins with 520.  He earned his 500th career win last season with a win over Michigan State.  His career record is 684-716-1 in 28 overall seasons. His EIU record is 520-555-1, which includes two trips to the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and 2008.
