CHARLESTON, Ill. – Southeast Missouri scored all the runs the Redhawks would need in the first inning Sunday afternoon as they won the deciding game in a weekend Ohio Valley Conference series, 5-0, over Eastern Illinois at Coaches Stadium.  SEMO won the opening game on Friday.  EIU won the game on Saturday afternoon.  The Panthers continue their season long seven game home stand on Tuesday at 2 p.m. against Benedictine College.

Trevor Ezell walked to open the game and came around to score the game's first run on a single up the middle by Andy Lennington as SEMO scored four runs in the first inning against EIU starter Garrison Stenger (1-7).  SEMO added one run on an error before Ryan Rippee delivered a two-run single up the middle.

The four runs would be all the offense Redhawks starter Alex Winkelman (1-2) would need as he pitched a complete game for the win.  Winkelman scattered six hits with EIU third baseman Brant Valach picking up three of those during a 3-for-4 day at the plate.

Brendon Neel hit a solo home run in the second inning before EIU's bullpen allowed just two hits in the final seven innings.  Andy Fisher worked 5.1 innings on the mound while Luke Dietz went 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.

EIU's other three hits came on singles by Joseph Duncan, Hunter Morris and Demetre Taylor.  Taylor extended his hitting streak to nine games.

SEMO had only seven hits on the afternoon with Neel's home run the only extra base hit as he finished 1-for-2 with two walks.

EIU falls to 3-26, 2-13 in the OVC.  SEMO improved to 21-14, 13-5 in the OVC.
