Chase Thurston had a solid week for the Panthers as he picked up both a save and a win in three appearances out of the bullpen. Â On Wednesday he closed out the win over Indiana State for the save. Â He worked three innings of relief on Saturday picking up the win against Southeast Missouri. Â He threw six scoreless innings for the week.

Caleb Howell continues his march towards the EIU career hits record. Howell needs two hits to tie for the EIU career hits record of 260 as he had his 11 game hitting streak snapped on Sunday. Â Howell leads the Panthers with a .340 average.

Brant Valach joined the EIU career top ten for hits last week and over the weekend against Southeast Missouri he moved up to ninth with 213 career hits. Â Valach hit .545 in the series against SEMO. Â This season he is hitting .327 with ten doubles and four home runs.Â

Demetre Taylor add two RBI to his season total on Saturday as the outfielder leads the Panthers with 20 RBI and is now hitting .322 for the season with a nine game hitting streak.

Andy Fisher was solid in relief on Sunday against Southeast Missouri as he worked 5 1/3 innings allowing just two hits. Â It was Fisher's longest relief appearance this season, his previous high was 3 2/3 at Arkansas. Â Fisher leads the team with 17 appearances this season which is tied for third most in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Jason Scholl reached base safely on Friday against SEMO as he leads the team reaching base safely in 12 straight games. Â
• Eastern Illinois turned four double plays over the weekend with one each day as the Panthers have turned at least one double play in ten of their last 11 games.  The lone game in that streak without a double play was the 5-4 win over Indiana State.
• Eastern Illinois is playing its 109th season of intercollegiate baseball as the Panthers head to Central Arkansas this weekend.  EIU has an all-time record of 1,706 wins and 1,466 losses.  Head coach Jimmy Schmitz is in his 21st season as the Panthers skipper.  Schmitz is the Panthers career leader in wins with 522.  He earned his 500th career win last season with a win over Michigan State.  His career record is 689-732-1 in 28 overall seasons. His EIU record is 523-571-1, which includes two trips to the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and 2008.
