• Three Eastern Illinois pitchers combined for a 2-0 shutout win over UT Martin on Sunday as the Panthers won their senior day game.  Andy Fisher opened the game pitching 5.2 innings with five strike outs.  Christian Slazinik retired the only batter he faced and Chase Thurston closed out the final inning for his fourth save this season.  EIU's last shutout was a year ago to the day with a 4-0 win over Morehead State on May 10, 2014.

• Caleb Howell extended his current hitting streak to ten games on Sunday as the senior is hitting .402 heading into the final four games of the regular season.  Howell was third in the nation last season and is looking to become just the fourth player in EIU history with two or more .400 seasons.  Kevin Seitzer is the only Panther player with three.  Howell moved up to fourth on the OVC career hits list with 289.

• EIU was able to get all eight seniors on the Panthers roster into action on Sunday as the Panthers and Skyhawks resumed their game from Saturday after rain halted action in the bottom of the fifth.  Dane Sauer and Adam Casson both had RBI in the continued game while Brant Valach drove home a run in the final game win over UTM.

• Caleb Howell and Demetre Taylor both enter the final week of the regular season in the top ten in the OVC in batting average.  Howell is currently second with a .402 average.  Taylor is eighth in the league with a .367 average.  Taylor is one of four players tied for the OVC lead with four triples this season. 

• Jake Johansmeier worked nine strong innings in the Friday opener against UT Martin as the Panthers lost the game in extra innings.  The nine innings are the most by an EIU starter this season.  Johansmeier made his 32nd start which moved him up to eighth on the EIU career list for starts.  

• Eastern Illinois closes out the 2015 regular season with a non-conference game at Butler on Tuesday and an OVC series at SIU Edwardsville, Thursday through Saturday. The Panthers have eight members in this year's senior class.  Those seniors are Adam Casson, John Devito, Andrew Grahn, Caleb Howell, Dane Sauer, Christian Slazinik, Garrison Stenger and Brant Valach.

• Eastern Illinois is playing its 109th season of intercollegiate baseball as the Panthers head to Central Arkansas this weekend.  EIU has an all-time record of 1,715 wins and 1,473 losses.  Head coach Jimmy Schmitz is in his 21st season as the Panthers skipper.  Schmitz is the Panthers career leader in wins with 532.  He earned his 500th career win last season with a win over Michigan State.  His career record is 698-739-1 in 28 overall seasons. His EIU record is 532-578-1, which includes two trips to the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and 2008.
