Manley Signs With Montreal Alouettes Of CFL

Former quarterback will head to May 31 training camp

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Former Eastern Illinois quarterback Andrew Manley has signed a contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.  Manley will be a part of the team's training camp which opens next Sunday, May 31.  The season opener for the team will be Saturday, June 13 against Ottawa.
 
Manley was a two-year member of the Panthers football team after starting his career at New Mexico State.  During his first season he was a back-up behind current New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.  As a senior he appeared in 11 games with two starts against Illinois State and UT Martin.  For the season he passed for 850 yards going 76-of-146 (52.1 percent).  Manley had four touchdown passes and rushed for two more scores finishing the season with 28 yards rushing.
 
EIU has had 12 previous players play in the Canadian Football League with the most recent fullback Chris Szarka who recently retired following a long career with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders.
