Women's Soccer Season Ends With Loss At SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer had its 2016 season come to a close on Thursday evening suffering a 5-1 loss at SIU Edwardsville.

The Panthers ended the campaign with a 5-13 record, 2-8 in the OVC.  SIUE improved to 8-7-3, 6-3-1 in the OVC as the Cougars will advance to the OVC Tournament which begins on Sunday.

The score was tied at half 1-1 as SIUE scored in the 12th minute with Kassidy Rawdon scoring on an assist from Jorie Clawson.  An own goal allowed the Panthers to even the score in the 32nd minute.

SIUE broke open the match with a pair of goals in a seven minute span in the second half.  Courtney Benning scored in the 50th minute.  Peyton Roehnelt added a goal in the 57th minute.

The Cougars had goals by Cory Levels in the 62nd minute and Kaylen Sapp in the 83rd minute to round out the scoring.  Caroline Hoefert had assists on three of the SIUE goals.

EIU finished the match with two shots by Carrie Caplin and Kate Olson.
