EIU is 8-4 on the year after wins at Missouri and against Fontbonne over the weekend. This marks the fourth time in the school's Division I history EIU has opened a season with an 8-4 record, the last time was during the 1991-92 season. The best start during the NCAA Division I era was the 1985-86 season as EIU was 8-4 in non-conference play and won its first four Mid-Continent games to start 12-4 on the year. Indiana State is 5-6 on the season having lost two straight. The Sycamores are 3-1 in the Hulman Center including a win over Butler on Dec. 7.

WINS OVER POWER 5 CONFERENCE
Eastern Illinois posted its third win over a Power 5 Conference team on Saturday as the Panthers picked up a win over Missouri, 67-64, in Columbia. It was the first time EIU had beaten a Power 5 Conference team on the road. The two previous wins both came in Lantz Arena as the Panthers knocked off Ole Miss in 1974 and beat Wisconsin in 1987. EIU was 2-40 all-time against Power 5 Conference schools prior to that win. The Panthers do hold one additional win over a current Power 5 Conference team as the beat Miami (Fla.) in the opening round of the 1949 NAIB National Tournament in Kansas City. EIU had been 0-3 against Missouri entering last Saturday's game with two of the losses to Mizzou when the Tigers were nationally ranked.
