Softball's Mid-Week Showdown Cancelled

CHARLESTON, Ill. - The Eastern Illinois softball team was forced to cancel their afternon doubleheader at IPFW this Wednsday.

The Panthers were prepared to face the Mastodons in their final games before opening OVC play with the first pitch in Fort Wayne set for 3 pm this afternoon. Poor weather and field conditions forced the two schools to cancel the games.

Head coach Angie Nicholson along with the rest of the softball coaching staff hope to arrange for additional mid-week contests later this spring to fill-in for the missed games.

The Panthers will be back on the diamond this Saturday as they open up conference play with a three-game series against UT Martin. Saturday's games against the Skyhawks mark the first home games of the season for EIU as the opening pitch is set for 1 pm on WIlliams Field.
