NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Eastern Illinois softball opened their Nashville road trip by sweeping Belmont in Saturday's doubleheader to improve to 17-24 and 11-6 in the OVC. The Panthers opened the day downing the Bruins 4-2 before the bats came alive in the late game resulting in a 15-3 victory for EIU.

Beck added EIU's second run by personally crossing home plate in the top of the third inning after hitting a two-out single up the middle. Beck went on to steal second base before Watson hit a single to left center field to put the Panthers up 2-0.

Beck continued her stellar game in the fifth inning with an RBI double to right center field to drive in Jennette Isaac from second base. Watson followed suit in the next at-bat with a double of her own to score Beck from second and extend EIU's lead to 4-0.

Belmont's Lexi Rouse pulled one back for the Bruins with a solo home run down the right field line in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-1. Chelsey Deloney followed suit in the next at-bat with a home run of her own to cut the Panther lead in half 4-2.

The Panthers took their 4-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh as Rogers came in for Wireman to close out the game. Wireman finished the game with four strikeouts over six innings pitched.

April Markowski hit an infield single on the next at-bat to advance all runners and make it 2-0. EIU earned another run as Belmont's Rouse walked Andrea Roberts to advance all the runners. Back-to-back errors from the Bruins added three more runs for EIU to extend the Panthers lead to 6-0.
