WESTFIELD, Ind. – Fort Wayne scored in the opening minute of the second half and the Mastodons were able to pick up a 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Sunday afternoon.
For the second straight match Eastern Illinois was limited to just three shots as the Panthers fell to 0-2 on the season.
IPFW scored 56 seconds into the second half as Malissa Hofmeister had a one touch redirect into the goal off an assist from Chloee Foor who sent the ball in from the other side of the goal box.
Foor would add an insurance goal for the Mastodons in the 73rd minute scoring unassisted as EIU's goalkeeper
Sara Teteak was trying to handle a ball sent into the goal box.
Teteak finished with eight saves for EIU as IPFW had a 16-3 shots advantage. Kiley Dunning made one save for IPFW as the Panthers lone shot on goal was sent in by
Ellie Corrigan.
EIU returns to action next Sunday at Illinois State.
IPFW improved to 1-1 on the season with the win.
