CHARLESTON, Ill. – Katie Wells knocked home a rebounded save with 1:18 remaining in regulation to give Indiana State the first goal of the match. The Sycamores would add an insurance goal to defeat Eastern Illinois 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field in the Panthers home opener.
Both teams were looking for offense in the first half as Indiana State registered two shots and EIU had one shot attempt. The Sycamores finished the match with ten shot attempts, while the Panthers finished with five.
Caitlin Glascott got free in the final two minutes and fired a shot that was deflected by EIU starting goalkeeper
Sara Teteak. The rebound found the foot of Wells as she delivered the game winner.
Pressing to try to get an equalizing goal in the final minute, EIU turned the ball over at midfield and Pam Silies had a breakaway attempt beating Teteak in a one-on-one situation.
The Panthers did not get an official shot on goal with

Henar Urteaga,
Kate Olson,
Angela Corcoran and
Emma Scaro all credited with shot attempts.
EIU fell to 1-4 on the season and will host IUPUI next Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field. Indiana State moved to 3-3 on the year.
