Charleston, Ill. – Eastern Illinois volleyball played host to Austin Peay in an OVC conference matchup Friday night. The Panthers fell to the Governors losing in three sets (19-25, 23-25, and 14-25).
The first set started off with a back-to-back battle between the Governors and the Panthers. Austin Peay was able to push past EIU late to win the set 25-19. Leading the Governors attack was Ashley Slay who led with six kills in the set. Austin Peay totaled their highest hitting average in the set hitting .375.

Similar to the first set the Governors took control of the second set defeating the Panthers 25-23.
Laurel Bailey aimed to get the Panthers back on track in the second set with her team leading four kills. The difference maker once again would be Slay who led the Governor attack with five kills.

Austin Peay would control the whole third set to close out the match winning 25-14. Team leaders in kills for the set included Christina White for the Governors who totaled six kills, and
Maria Brown for the Panthers who totaled four kills

Leading the Panthers offensively was
Laurel Bailey who led the team with ten kills.
Taylor Smith finished with a team-high 22 assists. Defensively leading the Panthers was
Anne Hughes who collected 14 digs.
The Panthers return to action Saturday afternoon where they will close out the season at home against Murray State for a senior day OVC conference showdown at 7 p.m.
