GAME 3
Eastern Illinois opens its 2017-18 home schedule on Friday night hosting IUPUI. The Panthers played two exhibition games in Lantz Arena beating Illinois in the Hurricane Relief Game before losing to Southern Indiana.  EIU opened the regular season with a pair of road games and is 0-2 after losses at Nebraska and Western Illinois. This will be the first of four non-conference games at home. IUPUI comes into the game at 1-1 losing on the road at Bradley before beating NCAA Division III member Anderson University. Â
STARKS IN DOUBLE FIGURES AGAIN
Junior college transfer wing Jajuan Starks led the Panthers in both scoring and rebounding on Wednesday night at Western Illinois. Starks scored 15 points at WIU while pulling down seven rebounds. He currently leads the Panthers in both categories after scoring 12 points with six rebounds at Nebraska. Starks is averaging 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds with five of his 13 rebounds this season on the offensive glass. He is currently tied for 10th in the OVC in rebounding.
WINNING ON THE GLASS
Eastern Illinois has improved on the glass early this season as the Panthers finished with an even rebound margin against Nebraska (43 each) and won the rebounding battle on Wednesday at Western Illinois (41-37). The Panthers have done it with a rebounding by committee approach with six players pulling down four or more rebounds per game. Jajuan Starks is the current team leader at 6.5 rebounds per game. Muusa Dama, last year's OVC rebounding leader, has 5 per game.Â
