EVANSTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois women's basketball team fell to Northwestern 74-40 on the road in their final non-conference game of the 2017-18 season.Â
The Panthers fall to 1-10 on the season heading into conference play. The Wildcats improve to 7-7.
EIU struggled from the field in the first half as they were held to only 12 points. Northwestern shot 58.3 percent from the field in the second quarter as they headed into the second half leading 42-12.
Three panthers connected from beyond the arc in the third quarter as EIU out-scored the Wildcats 16-12.
Carmen Tellez,
Lana Marov, and
Halle Stull all connected on three-point shots. Tellez finished 3-of-6 from the field with eight points. Stull finished with five points and four rebounds. Freshman
Karle Pace also had eight points for the Panthers in 23 minutes of play.
Danielle Berry and Jalish Smith each added five points. Berry collected three assists, two rebounds, and two steals. Smith had a team-high five rebounds with two assists and two steals.
Four Players finished in double-figures for Northwestern. Lindsey Pulliam had a game-high 15 points. Kunaiyi-Akpunah recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Panthers will return to action Dec. 28 to open conference play at Murray State.
