CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Kentucky applied pressure most of the match on Friday afternoon finally breaking through early in the second period as they picked up a 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference win over Eastern Illinois at Lakeside Field.

EIU lost its fourth straight OVC match to fall to 0-4 in the league, 5-7-1 overall.Ā  EKU remained unbeaten in OVC play at 3-0-2 while improving to 6-3-3 overall.Ā Ā  The Panthers host Morehead State on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

EKU had nine total shots in the first half with four of those on goal as they finished the match with a 15-3 shots advantage.Ā Ā  EIU starting goalkeeper Sara Teteak made four saves in the first half as the two teams were tied 0-0 at the half.Ā Ā  Teteak ended the match with six saves.

In the second half Jordan Foster played a ball down the left side of the pitch that Kacy Eckley took on a fast break and beat Teteak with a shot to the lower right hand side of the box in the 55th minute.

The Colonels would add an insurance goal by Allison Werner in the 66th minute as she hit a ball that just squeezed below the crossbar to find the back of the net.Ā  Idalys Rea picked up the assist.

EIU finished the match with thee total shots with two coming from Henar Urteaga and one by Itxaso Aguero.Ā  Aguero's shot was the lone EIU shot on goal as Anna Hall made the save.
