The Panthers close out their four-game conference road trip Saturday afternoon at Eastern Kentucky. Tip-off is set for 1 pm. EIU is coming off an eight point loss to Morehead State Thursday night and fell to 0-3 in the OVC. EKU lost by two at home to SIUE and are 1-2 in the OVC. EKU's only conference win was against Tennessee State on Dec. 30.
SCOUTING EASTERN KENTUCKY
Eastern Kentucky went 3-6 in non-conference play picking up wins vs. Bowling Green, Western Carolina, and Ohio Christian. They are currently 1-2 in conference play. EKU split the first weekend of OVC play with a 65-51 loss to Jacksonville State and picked up a 76-68 win at Tennessee Tech. EKU fell vs. SIUE 62-60 Thursday night. Four players average double-figures. Abby Wright leads the team with 14.6 points per game on 39 percent from the arc, while A'Queen Hayes adds 14.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. Madison Woods records 12 points and six boards per game, and Bria Bass posts 10.1 points per game.
NEHLS CAREER NIGHT
Jennifer Nehls poured in a career-high 24 points in EIU's loss to Morehead State. Nehls scored ten first quarter points to lead the team into a strong second quarter. She was 10-of-11 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. Nehls also finished the game with six boards for the Panthers.
FROM THE LINE
The Panthers have improved from the free throw line in conference play shooting 60.4 percent from the line.
Taylor Steele leads EIU after shooting 5-of-5 at Morehead State. Steele is 10-of-10 from the line in OVC play. She was 2-of-2 at Austin Peay and 3-of-3 at Murray State. Steele is shooting a team best 79.2 percent from the line on the season.
