Charleston, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois volleyball team returns home to Lantz Arena to host Belmont for a dig pink weekend matchup.
The Panthers head into the weekend sporting an overall record of 9-17 and 4-7 in the OVC.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27
EIU VS Belmont….2 p.m.
The Panthers return home after a midweek matchup against SIUE on Wednesday. The Panthers fell short to the Cougars in five sets. EIU looks to rebound from their loss on Wednesday this weekend as they host Belmont.
Anne Hughes was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. The redshirt junior led the Panthers on the defensive side of the court during this weekend's conference play collecting 35 digs and averaging 5.83 digs-per-set. Hughes finished this weekend with 19 digs against Eastern Kentucky and 16 against Morehead State.
Taylor Smith earned her first triple-double of the season against SIUE on Wednesday. Smith finished with 23 digs, 22 assists, and 12 kills.
Laurel Bailey earned her 11th double-double of the season finishing with 26 digs and 22 kills.
EIU will face the likes of Belmont for an Ohio Valley Conference matchup Saturday. Belmont enters the weekend with a record of 3-20 and 3-7 in the OVC.
Taylor Floyd heads into the weekend currently leading the Belmont offense with 169 kills on the season.
EIU will travel to Martin, Tennessee to verse OVC opponent UT Martin Friday November 2.
