EIU Volleyball travels to Austin Peay and Murray State

– The Eastern Illinois volleyball team will travel this weekend to face OVC opponents Austin Peay and Murray State this weekend. The Panthers head into the weekend sporting an overall record of 6-13 and 1-3 OVC.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5
EIU at Austin Peay…7 p.m.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6
EIU at Murray State…2 p.m.

PANTHERS RANKED IN THE OVC TOP 10
The Eastern Illinois volleyball team has four members – Laurel Bailey, Bailey Chandler, Maggie Runge, and Anne Hughes – currently ranked in the top 10 in the Ohio Valley Conference in multiple categories.

Hughes currently ranks 22nd in the NCAA in digs-per-set with a 5.36 average. Hughes currently leads the OVC in digs with 359.

Bailey enters the weekend currently holding the eighth spot in points in the OVC with 232. Bailey also holds the eighth position in kills with 200.

Runge found her way into second in blocks with 65.

Chandler moved into the top 10 for assists with 369 on the season.

As a team, EIU holds top 10 in several categories placing second in digs, fifth in service aces, seventh in hitting percentage, eighth in blocks, and tenth in assists, kills, and opponent hitting percentage.

SCOUTING THE GOVERNORS & RACERS
EIU will face the likes of Austin Peay and Murray State in a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches this weekend.

Austin Peay enters the weekend with first in the conference with a record of 14-2 and 4-0 in the OVC.

Brooke Moore enters the week currently leading the Governors offense as she leads Austin Peay with 198 kills on the season.

Murray State enters the weekend with a record of 7-9 and 1-3 in the OVC.

Rachel Guistino leads the Racers offensively with 238 kills on the season.

UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS
Following their two matches this weekend against Austin Peay and Murray State, the Panthers will travel to Jacksonville, Alabama for a conference showdown against Jacksonville State on Friday night.
