RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky knocked off Eastern Illinois women's tennis, 7-0, on Friday afternoon in Richmond, Ky., snapping the Panthers two match Ohio Valley Conference win streak.

In EIU's only conference match of the weekend the Panthers fell to 8-10 overall, 2-1 in the OVC. EKU improved to 3-0 in the OVC and 8-8 overall.

The match started out with several closely contested doubles competitions with EKU eventually winning two of the three matches to claim the point. At No. 1 doubles
Stella Cliffe and
Grace Summers pushed their match to win 7-6 over Alexandra Belle and Lisa Friess. At No. 3 doubles
Claire Martin and
Srishti Slaria lost their match 7-5 to Laura Aregente and Raquel Montalvo which handed the overall doubles point to EKU.

In singles action the Colonels picked up wins in five of the six matches in straight sets.  The lone exception was at No. 6 singles where Martin pushed her match to three sets before falling 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 to Margaux Lacroix.

Playing at No. 2 singles Summers threatened to push her match against Kristina Lagoda to a third set but fell in two sets 6-0, 7-6.

EIU hosts Belmont and Tennessee State next weekend at home at Darling Courts.
