Charleston, Ill. – Tennessee Tech was able to jump out in front of Eastern Illinois early in the second game of the conference series. The Panthers rallied late but it wasn't enough for the Golden Eagle offense who scored ten runs in their 10-6 win.
Eastern Illinois dropped to 9-16 (1-7 OVC), while Tennessee Tech advanced to 20-5 (10-1 OVC).
The contest between Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech started off with a pitcher's duel. The two starters sat down the first six batters faced. Marcus Evey carried a no-hitter into the bottom of the fifth inning when
Hunter Morris got the Panthers in the hit column with a double to right center. Evey tossed 6.0 shutout innings, allowing one hit, three walks, and struck out two batters. Evey improved to 3-0 on the season.
Alex Stevenson suffered the loss on the mound for the Panthers today tossing 5.2 innings, with four earned runs.
After Tennessee Tech was able to score six unanswered runs through seven innings of play, The Panthers were able to rally in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Golden Eagles lead down to one run. EIU was able to get into the pitching staff during the bottom of the seventh forcing three pitching changes.
Dougie Parks kicked off the inning with a leadoff walk.
Andrew Curran would get the two-out rally started for the Panthers singling to right. EIU would load the bases after
Tyler Tesmond got hit by a pitch.
Frankie Perrone got the Panthers on the board pulling a two run single through the right side. After back-to-back walks,
Jimmy Govern was able to drive in two runs with a single up the middle.
Tennessee Tech answered back by scoring in the eighth inning on a Brennon Kaleiwahea single up the middle.
The Golden Eagles would increase their lead adding three runs in the top of the ninth off a John Ham two run double down the left field line, and a David Garza single.
With the bases juiced in the ninth inning the Panthers were able to add one run when Govern earned his third RBI of the afternoon on a sacrifice fly. The Golden Eagles were able to shut down the rally taking the second game of the series 10-6.

Perrone finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs, and a walk. Govern finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
Josh Turnock drew three walks in two plate appearances on the afternoon.
