Charleston, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois baseball team played their final game of the 2018 season Sunday afternoon. SIUE was able to spoil the potential series sweep, defeating Eastern Illinois 7-3.
With the loss Eastern Illinois drops to 20-30 (9-18 OVC), while SIUE improves to 15-34 (6-21 OVC).

Spenser Dexter got the nod to close out the series on the mound for the Panthers. Dexter suffered the loss on the mound falling to 0-2 on the season. Dexter tossed 4.2 innings, with seven hits, four strikeouts, four runs, and a walk.
SIUE got on the board first scoring in the third inning on a Jared McCun home run to left center. The Cougars added to their lead in the top of the fourth inning when Garret Carmichael tripled to right field to drive in Aaron Goecks.
Hunter Morris was able to cut the SIUE lead down to one run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Morris hit his second triple of the year to score
Logan Beaman.
The Cougars fought back in the top of the fifth inning adding two more runs to their lead. Jared McCun earned his second RBI of the game with a single to center to score Jordan Ross. Aaron Geocks would drive in the
Cougars second run of the game with a single to score Brock Weimer.
Andrew Curran would lay down a sacrifice bunt to drive in the Panthers second run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.
???????SIUE was able to add two more runs in the top of the seventh and eighth inning to lead EIU 6-2.
EIU would try to rally in the bottom of the eighth inning scoring one run to cut the lead down to 6-3.
Joseph Duncan was able to drive in the Panthers run with a double to left field.
Mason McReaken earned the win on the mound for SIUE Sunday afternoon. McReaken tossed 5.0 innings, with five strikeouts, four walks, two runs, and a hit.
