MUNCIE, Ind. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer played the first of two exhibition matches to start the season on Friday afternoon at Ball State. The two teams played three 30-minute segments with Ball State scoring in the final period to pick up a 1-0 win over the Panthers.

Julia Elvbo scored with 15 minutes remaining in the contest to give Ball State the only score of the match.

Official stats per player were not recorded but Eastern Illinois finished the match with five shots on goal. The Panthers had one shot in the opening period, two in the second period and two in the final period.

The Panthers return to action on Sunday playing an exhibition match at Evansville at 4 p.m.

EIU opens the regular season at home on Sunday, August 19 hosting Valparaiso at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
