CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois men's soccer fell 2-0 to Northern Illinois Friday afternoon. The Huskies took an early lead in the first half to secure their sixth win of the year. The Panthers fall to 2-4-2 overall while NIU improves to 6-2.

Anthony Markanich scored in the 15th minute of play for the Huskies. Kevin Rodriguez tallied as assist on a pass from the bottom right corner of the box as Markanich found the back of the net from ten yards out. Nick Markanich would go on to score NIU's second goal of the match at the 50 minute mark from the top of the box. Irvin Dominguez recorded an assist on the play.

Anders-James Wermuth, Shady Omar, and Eric Anderson all recorded a shot for the Panthers in today's match.

Jonathan Burke made the start and played 90 minutes in goal for EIU. He made five saves allowing both goals. 

The Panthers will be back in action next week with a road match at Belmont on Tuesday Sept. 25. EIU will return home for their conference opener vs. Denver on Saturday Sept. 29 at 3 pm.
