CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – After being on the road last weekend, the Eastern Illinois volleyball team took to the road again looking for its first OVC win. The Panthers lost to Southeast Missouri in straight sets (22-25, 16-25, 16-25).

It was quite close all the way through the first set against the Redhawks. The panthers go on a 5-0 run led by
Laurel Bailey who had two aces to take the lead early in the first set. EIU kept control of the first set until the Redhawks go on a 8-1 run to gain their second lead of the set at 14-13. SEMO took four of the last five points to take set one.

The Panthers got off to a rough start in the second set as the Redhawks go on a 11-0 run right out of the gate. EIU tried to chip away at the Redhawks lead bit by bit as they went on a 6-1 run led by
Kylie Michael but were unable to come back in the second set as SEMO took the set by nine points.
EIU got off to a good start as they lead by 4 early in the set. The Redhawks have a run of their own to tie it up at 8-8. SEMO goes on multiple runs in the middle of the set to take control. The Panthers tried to get things going but were unable to do so. The Redhawks take the final set 25-16 and win the match in three.

Maggie Runge was a force at the net with three blocks.
Breanna Jager led the team in assist with 12. The Redhawks were led by Laney Malloy and Krista Berns who both had eight kills. Clair Ochs led the team in assists with 30.Â
