Panther Take to the Road for the Last Time

Volleyball looks for first OVC road win

• Last weekend the Panthers lost in straight sets to both Morehead state and Eastern Kentucky. This weekend the Panthers hit the road one last time for the season to take on Austin Peay and Murray State for the second time this season.

• Laurel Bailey led the Panthers this past weekend as she recorded a total of 13 kills total. She had three kills against Morehead state and added a double-double to her resume for the season with 10 kills and 11 digs against Eastern Kentucky. 

• Madison Cunningham recorded a total of 28 digs over the past weekend she had 11 against Morehead and 17 against Eastern Kentucky. Bailey Chandler recorded a total of 43 assists these past two matches. In the match against Morehead she recorded 18 assists and one kill and in the Eastern Kentucky match she had 25 assists and one kill.
 
• On Friday, EIU goes up against Austin Peay on Friday and then against Murray State on Saturday.

BAILEY RECORD DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Laurel Bailey added another double-double to her resume as she had 10 kills and 11 digs against Eastern Kentucky. Her last double-double took place when the Panthers picked up their first win of the season against Robert Morris. Bailey is currently fourth on the team in kills and is second in digs behind Madison Cunningham.
 
PANTHERS RANKED IN OVC TOP 10
• Entering this week's competition, the EIU volleyball team has three members – Maggie Runge, Bailey Chandler and Madison Cunningham -- ranked in the top 10 in the OVC in three different statistical categories.

• Runge dropped down one spot and is now ranked fourth in hitting percentage with 3.14 kills-per-set. She is currently leading the team in overall kills with 174.

• Chandler is ranked seventh in assists with 662 and has a 8.27 assists-per-set average. She currently leads the team in assists.

• Cunningham is currently ranked ninth in digs; averaging 3.99 digs-per-set with a total of 323 digs on the season.

• The Panthers as a team are ranked eighth in blocks with 152 in the OVC. The Panthers are also ranked fifth in serving aces with 96 in the OVC.

SCOUTING THE GOVERNORS
• Austin Peay in currently 7-17 overall and 5-5 in OVC play. APSU is currently leading the overall series 24-23 after winning the first matchup early this year in three sets.
• The Governors are led by Brook Moore with 273 total kills on the season.

• Caroline Waite is their leader in assists with 448 total assiss.

• On the defensive side Austin Peay is led by Ginny Gerig with 375 digs and by Karli Graham with 60 blocks.

SCOUTING THE RACERS
•Murray State is currently 13-9 overall and is 7-3 in the conference. The Racers currently lead the overall series 28-24 and won the last match up in three sets early in the season.
• The Racers are led by Rachel Giustino with 424 kills which leads her team and the conference. She is also second on the team in blocks with 27.

• Ashley McBee is leading the team and is third in the OVC in assists with 785.

• Defensive the Racers are led by Becca Fernandez with 358 digs and Rachel Holthaus with 29 blocks which leads the team.

UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS
• The Panthers are back on the road for the second week in a row. They head to Austin Peay on Friday (Nov.1) and then to Murray State on Saturday (Nov.2). Both games start at 6 p.m.
