CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Panthers came up short against UT Martin losing in three sets (23-25, 20-25, 21-25). Maggie Runge led the team in kills with 11 and added two blocks. 

How It Happened: In the opening set, it was back and forth until the Skyhawks went on a 4-0 run to take the lead 10-6. Later in the set, they would take control as they lead by eight. The Panthers had a late run in the first led by two kills from Morgan Matusik to come within two points but the Skyhawks ultimately took the first set.  

The second set began with UT Martin taking the first two points but EIU followed with a 4-0 run to take the early lead. The remainder of the set was back and forth until the Skyhawks went on a 4-0 run to take control and the set 25-20.

In the final set, there was hope for the Panthers as they kept the score close throughout the set. There were six lead changes and the score was tied a total of 10 times in the third set. The Skyhawks went up by three points to build a safe distance. UT Martin took the final point to win the set and match.

Who Stood Out: The Panthers were led by Maggie Runge with 11 kills and two blocks. Bailey Chandler led the team in assists with 29 and tacked on three kills. Laurel Bailey led the team in digs with 16 and had two kills.
