CHARLESTON, Ill. – As the Panthers return home for a five game home stand they look for their second win of the season as they face SIUE. The Panthers lost to SIUE in three sets (22-25, 17-25, 20-25)
In the first set, the Cougars got out to a two point lead early, but the Panthers stayed close on their heels for the entire set. There were a total of four lead changes and it was tied seven times. In the end the Cougars won set one by three points.
The Panthers hung tough with the Cougars through the first part of the second set but the Cougars went on an 8-0 run and took control of the set. Late in the set the Panthers tried to make a comeback but fell short as SIUE took the second set 25-17.
In the third set, the Panthers held their own as the score was tied six times with in the set and there were two lead changes. Late in the third set the Panthers went on a 3-0 run to try and catch the Cougars but were unable to do so.
The Panthers were led by
Laurel Bailey and
Kylie Michael with eight kills each.
Bailey Chandler led the team in assists with 19 while
Maggie Runge had six blocks.
The Panthers are back in action of Saturday (Nov. 9) at 2 p.m. at home in Lantz Arena.
