Bonsett to be Inducted in Indiana Hall of Fame

NEW CASTLE, Ind. - The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame announced former Eastern Illinois women's basketball player, Sheryl Bonsett, as part of the 2019 women's induction class. She will be honored with 10 other women at the 18th annual Women's Awards Banquet on Saturday April 27, 2019.

Bonsett's tenure with the Panthers was during 1985-86 season through the 1988-89 season. She currently ranks as the 24th player in scoring history with 1,012 career points. She played in 114 career games making 96 starts for EIU. At the time of her graduation, she was second with 435 career assists, which now ranks fourth overall, and fifth with 166 career steals, which is now 11th all-time. 

Prior to her time at EIU, Bonsett was a 1985 Indiana All-Star after totaling 1,011 points and 361 assists at Scottsburg under Hall of Fame coach Donna Cheatham.  A four-year letterwinner on Warriorettes teams that were 71-12, she was a two-time team MVP, led the team in assists for three seasons and in steals two seasons.  She averaged 17.3 points and 5.2 rebounds senior season and was a member of the Warriorettes' 1983 regional championship team.
