EIU baseball added another arm to their roster for 2020

3/1/2019 11:12:00 AM

The Eastern Illinois baseball team and Head Coach Jason Anderson have announced the addition of a new member that will join the program for the 2020 season. The Panthers will bring in junior college transfer Carter Lawler.

Lawler joins the Panthers from Kirkwood Community College where he plays for Coach Todd Rima. Coach Rima is expecting Lawler to play a big role on his staff this year as a starter and a closer. Lawler attended Hampshire High School and was coached by EIU Baseball Alum Frank Simoncelli.

"We are excited to add Carter to our pitching staff and our team for the 2020 season. He comes to EIU with many connections to the program and is an ideal fit for what we need on our pitching staff. Carter has the potential to be a dominating pitcher in the OVC with his fastball and slider combination. He also possesses a great mentality and approach to pitching. After his time at a quality program like Kirkwood, we expect him to have a lot of success at the D1 level." ~Head Coach Jason Anderson
