The Eastern Illinois baseball team prepares for a mid-week non-conference showdown at Alabama State on Tuesday and Wednesday. EIU heads into the midweek showdown at 4-9 and 1-2 in the OVC.
The series is set to begin on Tuesday for the first game at 6 pm, and the final game will be played on Wednesday night at 6 pm.
Ryan Ingoffo heads into the series currently leading the Panthers in hitting. Ignoffo currently has an average of .364 (4-for-11) with 12 total bases, four hits, four runs, two RBIs, two runs, a walk, and a triple.
Jimmy Govern leads the Panthers in RBIs heading into the week. Govern has collected 11 RBIs so far on the season. During the series at Jacksonville State Govern had back-to-back games with a leadoff homerun to start the game.
Foster Anshutz earns his second career start as a Panther for Tuesday's game. Anshutz currently sits at 1-0 on the season through 5.0 innings. The Panthers have yet to announce who will get the call to close out the series on Wednesday.
Alabama State will go with right-handed pitcher AJ Stinson for the first game of the series. Gage Dollar will get the call to close out the series for the Hornets on Wednesday.
Due to inclement weather in Charleston, Illinois, the series against Murray State will now be played in Murray, Kentucky (Mar.15-17).
