EIU vs Rose-Hulman
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis played its first on-campus home match of the spring season on Sunday afternoon as the Panthers beat Rose-Hulman, 6-1, with the match moved indoors to the Lantz Fieldhouse.
EIU evened its record at 10-10 on the year while Rose-Hulman is 1-7.
EIU opened with the doubles point claiming all three matches.Â
Freddie O'Brien and
Daniel Hernandez teamed at number two doubles with
Mike Jansen and
Logan Charbonneau teamed at number three doubles; both tandems won 6-2.Â
In singles play EIU would take home five of the six singles matches. O'Brien and
Gage Kingsmith both needed second set tiebreakers to win their matches at number one and number three singles. O'Brien won 6-3, 7-5 (7-5) while Kingsmith won 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).
Jansen won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 at number two singles while Hernandez and Charbonneau also won in straight sets playing at number four and number six singles.Â
