NASHVILLE – Eastern Illinois men's tennis saw its 2019 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers lost 4-0 to number one seed Tennessee Tech in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
EIU ends the season with a 14-15 record.
The Panthers battled in doubles eventually losing the overall point in a tiebreaker at the number three position.  Â
Gage Kingsmith and
Daniel Hernandez won a long tiebreaker (11-9) at number two doubles ending with a 7-6 win.  Â
Freddie O'Brien and
Logan Charbonneau lost 7-4 in the tiebreaker at number three doubles losing the match 7-6.
In singles competition, the Golden Eagles were able to take straight set wins in the bottom of the line-up winning at number four, five and six singles to clinch the match.
O'Brien was leading 3-2 in the second set when his match at number one singles was left unfinished. Â
Mike Jansen and Hernandez also had their matches at number two and three singles left unfinished.Â
