In a year of program turnarounds for Eastern Illinois athletics, the Panthers men's tennis team posted one of the best seasons in program history under first year head coach
Chris Tolson.
The Panthers would finish the year with a 14-15 record with the 14 wins ranking as the second highest season win total in program history. The single season school record was 15 wins during the 1995 campaign. It marked the first time EIU had posted double digit wins in a season since 2009.
The success would carry over into the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament for the Panthers as they won their opening round match advancing to the OVC Tournament semifinals for the first time since the 2004 season.
Individually, junior Freddie O'Brien was one of the top players in the league as he earned first team All-OVC honors playing in the Panthers number one position. O'Brien became the first EIU player to earn first-team All-OVC honors since the 2010 season.
