MUNCIE, Ind. - Eastern Illinois women's soccer was limited to just one shot in the opening half and one total shot on goal for the match as the Panthers dropped the season opener at Ball State, 6-0, on Friday afternoon.

EIU returns to action next Friday evening at Kansas City and will play its home opener on Sept. 8 against Purdue Fort Wayne.

Ball State jumped on the board in the 16th minutes as Grace Alsop knocked home a cross into the box from Kerrigan Johnson. It proved to be the first of three goals on the day for Alsop who added goals for the Cardinals in the 45th minute and 68th minute.

EIU's offensive attack came from one of its freshmen attackers as
Nicoletta Anuci had three of EIU's five shots on the day including the lone shot on goal in the second half.

Seniors
Angela Corcoran and
Sarah DeWolf added the two other shots for EIU.

Ball State led 2-0 at the half following a goal in the 32nd minute form Tatiana Mason.  Julia Elvbo (54th minute) and Tatiana Hawkins-Dabney (80th) rounded out the Ball State scoring.
