CHICAGO – Eastern Illinois men's tennis was knocked off for the second straight day during a two-match weekend trip to Chicago. On Sunday the Panthers lost 4-2 to Chicago State.
EIU fell to 7-8 overall. CSU improved to 2-12.
The Panthers jumped out quickly winning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. After CSU won the No. 1 doubles match,
Gertjan De Wilder and
Rohan Srivastava evened the doubles action with a 6-4 win at No. 2.
Christos Kyrillou and
Thomas Wallace then put EIU up 1-0 in the match with a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Chicago State picked up the first two points in singles action with wins at No. 1 and No. 4.
Kyrillou evened the match at 2-2 with a three-set win at No. 2 singles. Kyrillou beat Jesus Perez Plaza 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
CSU used a three-set win at No. 3 singles to take a 3-2 lead before closing out the match with a win at No. 5 singles.
Cameron Slabbert was leading his match for EIU at No. 6 singles which was left unfinished after CSU clinched the match.
