CHICAGO – Eastern Illinois women's tennis came up short on Sunday afternoon as the Panthers lost their second match of the weekend with a 4-2 setback against Chicago State.

EIU fell to 5-8 on the season while CSU improved to 3-8.

The Cougars picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Panthers No. 1 doubles match with
Rachel Papavasilopoulos and
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova was left unfinished at 6-6 when CSU clinched the opening point.

Papavasilopoulos quickly evened the match at 1-1 with a straight set win at No. 1 singles as she beat Kristina Pukhaeva 6-3, 6-1.

Chicago State would win at No. 3 and No. 2 singles to move ahead 3-1 in the match.Â
Brittany Steven then brought the Panthers to within one point in the match as she won at No. 4 singles. Steven beat Lizi Morgoshia 6-4, 6-1.

Chicago State would cap the match with a win at No. 5 singles with
Lauren Ellis match at No. 6 singles left unfinished for EIU.
