MURRAY, Ky. – Eastern Illinois women's soccer season came to a close as the Panthers lost in the opening round of the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon. The Panthers lost 1-0 to Tennessee Tech in a match played in Murray, Ky., during a driving rain storm in the second half.
TTU improved to 5-5-4 and will play Murray State on Sunday. EIU had its season come to an end with a 4-11-2 record.
The two teams played a scoreless first half with EIU goalkeeper
Faith Davies making six of her seven saves in the match in the opening 45 minutes. Isabelle Austin made two saves in the match for TTU with one coming in each half.
TTU was finally able to break into the scoring column with Gabby Garcia scoring an unassisted goal in the 54th minute.
TTU would have ten shots for the match with eight on goal.
EIU had five shots in the match with shots on goal by
