CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's tennis closed out the 2021 season on Saturday afternoon with a home match against Southeast Missouri.
The Redhawks won the doubles point and then picked up a 5-2 win over EIU as the Panthers ended the season with a 4-13 overall record.
EIU opened winning the No. 2 doubles match with
Rachel Papavasilopoulos and
Brittany Steven winning 6-1. SEMO would then win 6-1 at No. 3 doubles and clinch the point with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
The Redhawks extended their lead in the match to 3-0 with wins at No. 5 and 4 singles.
Papavasilopoulos then picked up EIU's first point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. She improved to 4-1 on the season in No. 1 OVC singles play and was 11-2 overall at No. 1 singles.
SEMO clinched the match with its fourth point at No. 3 singles.
The final two points were split with
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova winning 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and the Redhawks winning at No. 6 singles.  Bukraba-Ulanova finished at 4-3 in OVC singles play.
