THE FINAL STRETCH
Eastern Illinois (21-20, 11-13) baseball will host their ninth OVC series of the season against Austin Peay (15-27, 11-10 OVC) at Coaches Stadium. The Panthers have seven more games scheduled for the season. Eastern Illinois most recently traveled to SIUE, taking the series 2-1 against the Cougars. Austin Peay faced Bellarmine on Wednesday, May 5, finishing with a 7-3 win over the Knights.

ON THE MOUND
Eastern Illinois will keep their same lineup as the past weekend. Cameron Doherty will open the series on the bump after pitching 5.1 innings in his last outing against SIUE. Doherty's holds a 3.84 ERA in 63.1 innings of work. He leads the Panthers in K's with 56 on the season, ranking the righty seventh in the OVC in this statistic. Foster Anshutz will start game two after getting starts in the past three series. Against SIUE, Anshutz pitched 5.0 innings, including four scoreless. Ky Hampton will start the final game of the series against the Governors. Hampton is a workhorse for the Panthers, pitching 69.2 innings, the most in the OVC. When Hampton starts, the Panthers are 7-4 as his five wins this season rank third in the OVC.

THE LINEUP
Eastern Illinois continues to be one of the top offenses in the OVC. The team ranks third in batting average (.280), second in total hits (396), first in runs (286), and first in scoring average (7 runs per-game). In the last series against SIUE, the Panthers recorded double-digit hits in both of their wins but managed only six in the loss. The Panthers are a dangerous team when they get into a rhythm at the dish and can put runs on the board in bunches.

ON DECK
EIU baseball is scheduled to travel to St. Louis, Mo. to face the Billikens on May 13, at 6 p.m. The Panthers will then host the Billikens for a doubleheader on May 15, starting at 12 p.m.
