2021 NCBWA All-American Teams

Trey Sweeney was named a third team All-American on Wednesday (June 16) as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its national awards list.

Sweeney becomes just the third EIU player to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Division I level joining Stan Royer and Jimmy Govern.

Sweeney, the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, finished the regular season ranked in the Top 50 nationally in 11 different categories including seventh in on-base percentage (.522), ninth in walks (46) and 13th in RBI (58). In 48 games Sweeney hit .382 hit 65 hits, 52 runs, 10 doubles, 14 home runs and a .712 slugging percentage while striking out only 24 times in 170 at-bats. He was a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award and a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Award.
