Former Eastern Illinois athletic director Mike Mullally passed away last week.  He was 82.
 
Mullally served as the Panthers Director of Athletics as the program completed its transition from the NAIA level to the NCAA Division II ranks.  He would guide the program from 1974-79 with EIU winning NCAA Division II National Championships in both cross country and football during his time.
 
The Panthers success at the NCAA Division II level would help Mullally land a position at Cal State Fullerton as the program's athletic director.  He would later serve as the athletic director at Boise State.
 
Mullally was inducted into the EIU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.
