PARK RIDGE, Ill. –  Eastern Illinois women's tennis played the first of three weekend road matches on Friday afternoon dropping a 5-2 decision at Chicago State.

EIU fell to 0-3 on the season and will play North Dakota in Milwaukee on Saturday before facing Marquette on Sunday. Chicago State moved to 1-3.

EIU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match clinching the doubles point.Â
Rachel Papavasilopoulos and
Elizaveta Bukraba-Ulanova won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles to quickly put the Panthers in front. Chicago State would win the No. 3 doubles point leaving the deciding contest at No. 2 doubles.Â
Christine Gouws and
Addison Brown would win 6-3 at that spot to give the Panthers the early 1-0 lead in the match.

In singles action, EIU added its second point with a win at No. 1 singles by Papavasilopoulos. She beat Diana Borodina 6-2, 6-0.   It was the 44th win at No. 1 singles for Papavasilopoulos in her EIU career as she ranks second all-time at EIU in No. 1 singles wins.

Bukraba-Ulanova battled at No. 2 singles before losing 6-4, 6-1. Gouws challenged at No. 3 singles before losing 6-3, 6-3.Â
