As the Ohio Valley Conference celebrates its 75th anniversary this academic year, we look back at Eastern Illinois part in that history each Tuesday
The @EIU_Volleyball team won the OVC Tournament in 2001 and faced Arizona in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers posted a 12-4 record during the OVC regular season finishing in a tie for second place in the OVC standings.
The Panthers beat Morehead State 3-0 in the opening round before a five-set win over UT Martin in the championship match. The 2022 OVC Tournament will take place this weekend in Martin, Tenn., with EIU entering as the No. 4 seed.
Carrie Stevens was named the OVC Tournament MVP after earning second team All-OVC honors during the season. Leslie Przekwas was a first team All-OVC selection while Erica Gerth was named to the OVC All-Newcomer team.Â
