CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis closed out its weekend with a 7-0 home win over Rose-Hulman. The match was played in the Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse and marked the second straight weekend that the Panthers have picked up a home win.
EIU won all three contests in doubles to clinch the doubles point.
Tyler Carlin and
Max Pilipovic-Kljajic secured the doubles point with their win at No. 3 doubles winning 6-0. It was their second doubles win of the weekend after winning on Friday at Butler.
Christos Kyrillou and
Thomas Wallace improved to 7-1 at No. 1 doubles this spring with their 6-3 win. It marked their second doubles win this weekend as well after winning on Friday at Butler.
In singles play, EIU won five of the six matches in two sets as they would win all six singles points.
Charles Courteau won 6-3, 6-0 over Grant Paradowski at No. 4 singles to clinch the match for the Panthers.
Leighton Brandon had his match at No. 1 singles go to three sets before beating Joshua Giambattista 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
Christos Kyrillou won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and
Cameron Slabbert picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.
Thomas Wallace and
Pau Riera closed out the singles matches for EIU. Wallace won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles for his seventh win this spring in singles play. Riera closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
EIU improved to 3-16 on the season and will open Ohio Valley Conference play next weekend. Rose-Hulman dropped to 5-7.
