Eastern Illinois men's basketball coach Marty Simmons has added guard Cameron Haffner to the Panthers roster for next season as Haffner becomes the second player to sign with EIU in the April signing period.

Haffner is a shooting guard from Westfield, Ind., that played for coach Shane Sumpter at Westfield HS.   Haffner (6'3, 180) averaged 16.5 points per game as a senior knocking down a single season school record 85 3-pointers during the year.  He added four rebounds, two assists and one steal per game as he was an Indiana Large School All-State selection.  Haffner was named to the Indianapolis Star All Super Team (Top 15 Players) after leading his school to the Indiana Class 4A Regional Championship game as they finished the season with a 22-7 record.  Haffner was named to the All-Regional team as a senior and to the All-Sectional team as both a junior and senior.  He was a three-time All-Conference selection.  A 1,000 point career scorer in high school, Haffner was selected to play in the 2022 Hoosier All-Star Classic.  Haffner is the son of former Evansville standout Scott Haffner who played two seasons in the NBA.

"We are excited to welcome Cameron Haffner to the Eastern Illinois Basketball family. Cam is an athletic and skilled guard that can score at all three levels. His elite shooting ability and deep range gives him a chance the chance to be an impactful player for the EIU program," said Simmons.  "Cam comes from a basketball family and a great Indiana high school basketball program at Westfield HS. This past season, Cam led the team to their first sectional championship while leading the team in scoring. We are looking forward to having Cam arrive on campus and officially join the Panther family."

Haffner joins a class that includes junior college guard Kinyon Hodges, who signed on Wednesday, and high school forward Sincere Malone.
