CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Eastern Illinois beach volleyball (0-13, 0-8 OVC) lost both matches on Saturday after versus UT Martin and Austin Peay, both 5-0. EIU battled throughout both matches in all five pairings. EIU will compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Beach Championship on Thursday against Morehead State.

During the Panther's first match against UT Martin, the pairing of TaKenya Stafford and Elisavet Papageorgiou took the number one pairing of UTM to two sets of 21-18. Throughout the weekend, both players took their matches to the brink.

The number five pairing of Kaitlyn Flynn and Catalina Rochaix came one set away from taking the victory. The final scores of their sets were 16-21, 21-12, and 5-15. Christina Martinez Mundo and Ashley Sharkus were also competitive in the number two slot.

In match two, the duo of Martinez Mundo and Papageorgiou took their final set into extra play before the fell in a hard fought loss to the number two pair of Austin Peay. The final scores were 10-21 and 24-26.

Ireland Hieb and Ella Collins also played strong today falling in the number three pairings. Their scores were 8-21 and 14-21.

EIU will look towards Thursday, Aptil 28 at noon as they get set to play Morehead State for a chance to move on to the next round in the OVC Beach Volleyball Tournament.
