EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Eastern Illinois men's tennis saw its 2022 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers lost to Belmont 4-0 in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament played at the Wesselman Tennis Center.
Belmont opened winning the doubles point with 6-4 wins at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
The Bruins would win the match picking up singles wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
Christos Kyrillou played at No. 2 singles and lost his first set 7-5 with the match left unfinished.
Charles Courteau and
Pau Riera both had their singles matches left unfinished as well. Courteau was playing at No. 4 singles and Riera at No. 5 singles.
It was the final EIU match for seniors
Leighton Brandon and
Christos Kyrillou.Â
EIU concludes the 2022 season with a 4-22 record.
The Panthers opened the OVC Tournament on Friday with a 4-2 win over Austin Peay.
