CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Paul Riera picked up a two set win for Eastern Illinois men's tennis playing at No. 6 singles as the Panthers lost on Saturday afternoon in an Ohio Valley Conference match at Austin Peay.

Austin Peay won 6-1 to improve to 5-6 overall, 1-1 in the OVC while EIU fell to 3-18 overall, 0-2 in the OVC.

Riera picked up his win over Thiago Nogueira with a 6-2, 6-3 decision.

Austin Peay would open the match winning the doubles point clinching the point with a tie-break win at No. 3 doubles.Â

APSU won at No. 1 doubles with the Panthers squaring the doubles match with a win at No. 2 doubles by
Cameron Slabbert and
Leighton Brandon. The pair won 6-4.

The Governors would then clinch the doubles point at No. 3 doubles as Oliver Andersson and Hogan Stoker beat
Tyler Carlin and
Max Pilipovic-Kljajic 7-6 (7-5).

In singles play, Slabbert would push his match at No. 3 singles to three sets before falling 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

EIU returns to action next weekend hosting Tennessee State and Belmont on Friday and Saturday at Darling Courts.
